  1. A useful tip if using ramps is to rap a length of carpet around the bottom rung to drive onto before the ramp  stopping it pushing away.

I have a long reach 3 ton jack with 3 ton axle stands which gets the axle a good height off the ground.

  2. Rothenberger make quality equipment, just make sure that the torch has an adjustable flame as one version of their torch doesn't. They will take both gas bottles but as said, the mapp gas is hottest. As a plumber I have been using mapp gas for years regularly and would not bother with anything else. The torches can be used for brazing and silver solder which mine often get used for.  There are also a range of nozzles available for different uses and spares if needed The biggest problem I have found with Rothenberger version is they snap by the base of the burner if dropped and hit the tip. This may be a safety point but gets expensive to replace so I currently use a cheaper brand which works just as well.

  3. I wouldn't think it is the brake switch if they only come on with the headlights.  As Steve b has just posted do the sidelights illuminate with the brake pedal? I would suspect wires melted together from the welding or no earth at the rear so the supply back feeds through both filaments to find an earth path.  I would run a temporary earth to the rear to eliminate that possibility. good luck and what a great looking motor.

  4. I have fitted Disco 1 seats in the rear of my 110 I didn't need to modify the wheel boxes. They fold forward against the front seats I made a frame to mount the original hinges to and a box section frame to act as the rear legs. The one problem I had was the door handles would foul the seat back when laying flat so I replaced the plastic handles with straps.

  5. I have the Optimil Wheel boss and cover, It is a great bit of kit. I also have the docking station fitted on the dash below the wheel where the swivel lock resides when driving and the wheel goes when off. I thought it might get in the way when driving but it doesn't and the wheel is out of sight when parked up. I also have a pedal box but must get around to fitting it, I have to move the bonnet release catch first nice to know it will still work if fitted over my matting.

  6. I've got a 3/4 drive Draper socket set I bought second hand, the ratchet was broken, I emailed Draper to enquire about getting a replacement part to repair it. I had a very nice email telling me that unfortunately the required part was out of stock but they would send me one once they had them inAbout a month later it turned up in the post free of charge. Excellent service, I sent a return email thanking them. Halfords have altered the design of their breaker bars I had to get a replacement from them and the new one is a better design but it doesn't fit into my case now so I had to remould the case with a heat gun to get it to shut.

Following on from that I have now found one that does Rivnuts up to m6. With the torque setting on the cordless drill set to the right setting I would imagine this would produce easily repeatable rivnut sets! Downside is the overall length of the tool and drill

That could be used with an angled attachment if space is tight.

  8. I have been using Erbauer for a few years and find they are value for money, their twin drill set I bought over three years ago have been abused and are still going strong. So last year when I was looking for a battery angle grinder I chose their new range and have bought a selection of their products with the new battery type. I am quite happy with them. The other thing people don't want to nick them so much. My one complaint is they don't do an impact wrench.
