  1. Borrowed from another forum, but very apt. Joys of ownership Andy
  2. Hi I have a D11 ES version 1999. Due to the traditional leaky sunroof issue, the decent Harmon has given up the ghost when when water dripped down the front of the unit. I have fitted a replacement (only a cheaper one as a temporary measure). The only problem now is that this unit hisses quite badly on both CD's and the radio. I am now wondering if there is an amplifier fitted somewhere in the system and this is causing the hiss?? Andy
  3. Hi. I had the problem on a S11 td5 with the passenger seat, no forward/ back movement. Found it was jammed in the fully back position. A bit of work with WD40 and pushing seat control forward/ backwards eventually got it moving. While doing it to start it only moved a couple of mm at a time so it didn't appear to be working. Again it was a case of passenger seat not needing to be adjusted all the time, so jammed up.
  4. Hi Tagging onto the end of this....... Can the airbag in a SII be switched off ????
  5. Hi As with most SII owners I am having an issue with the rear suspension. Drivers side airbag continues to deflate occasionaly. I am looking to convert to coil springs. What is the situation with the ACE fitted to the ES model, how does the conversion affect it?? Regards Andy
  6. I know, I know....... This has probably been done a number of times, but I have tried a search and nothing has been brought up!!! The lever in the S1 disco moves across to the diff lock position, but won't stay there, it just flops back out. High and low work Ok, but diff lock doesn't appear to. No lights, nothing.......... Any suggestions more than welcome. Regards Andy
  7. Could do that Jobo, but with 4 boys in the house, I think she has given up on the toilet seat thing....... Mind you, she could be moving the seat in the discovery in protest
  8. Hi We now have a S11 Disco ES TD5. It has the electric seats fitted. Is there an easy way of fitting a couple of memory settings on it (myself and wife are the only people who drive it)? Many thanks
  9. With the seat, I can hear the motor trying to work, but it clicks as if it has come up against something, so will have a good dig around in the next couple of days.. Do the motors seize up at all??
  10. Hi all I am now the owner of 2 discos (a hobby?????) Just bought a td5 es with all the bits as my "normal" car and am keeping the 200tdi as a plaything.. A couple of quick questions on the td5..... The electric seat on the passenger side is jammed in the furthest back position, is there a manual overide to get the seat moved forwards (bars to lift etc)?? The bonnet release has come adrift somewhere along the lines, I can feel it pulling the wire, but the bonnet stays firmly shut. Any ideas as to how to free? Thank you in advance Andy
  11. Good Morning all On the way back home yesterday I lost 5th Gear, it attemts to go in, but grates whilst trying and pops back out. It has been used for shortish journeys, but over the last couple of days it has ben used for a couple of hours at a time. All the other gears appear fine, it did do it a while back, but was only an intermittant problem. Any ideas. It is a 200tdi S1 Disco Regards Andy
  12. Hello again Questions, Questions.......... Now that both shocks and springs have been done on the rear it appeared to sit Ok for a short while, may have been an optical illusion?????? It is still sitting down on the offside rear Not talking a huge amount, probably by about 3 inches less than the other side. Someone has suggested a possible fault with the rear anti roll bar. I have checked and the body looks like it sits square on the chassis (the gaps look the same from the top of the chassis to the body). Any ideas, I am getting a cricked neck trying to look at it square. Many thanks Andy
  13. Thank you for the replies, I am not sure I do own a land rover as now I have fixed a power steering leak, it appears not to leave any little puddles anywhere Andy
  14. Hi I think it is called a torx bolt. I need to take off the window surrounds for the front windows on my 200tdi. I can see there are a few bolts, and 1 star type head. Does anyone know what size this is as my cheap toolkit doesnt go large enough and I may have to splash out some more cash and but a set. Thanks Andy
  15. Jobs done so far. Rear suspension, it appears to sit much better now, one of the nuts on the bottom of the n/s shock was a bit of a b****r but it came off in the end. Power steering pipe done and no puddles underneath at all now.(wondering if it is a proper landy Central locking works now, someone had put a passenger actuator in the drivers door ( 2 wires), replaced with a 4 wire unit and all works fine. Passenger window is the one that is now causing the issues. There is power going to the motor on both the up and down button presses (well the electrical tester lights up on the button presses) I have removed all the trim at the bottom of where the window sits to try and help the window up/ down but no difference. The piece of metal that the glass sits on is very rusty, would this make any difference? I am also going to try and fit the little springs in the front door locks soon to save me having to constantly use the key to open the button properly. Its amazing how many little things I am adding to the list. Thanks Andy
  16. Hi there, Not bought an exhaust from them, but just bought shocks and springs. Found them to be very good for service and good value. Britpart parts. Andy
  17. Hi Thank you for the responses. I have bought a new set of springs and shocks for the rear, will try and fit them within the next couple of weekends. The central locking, I have got a good second hand drivers door actuator to see if that is the cause. I will investigate the window this weekend hopefully as I have to take the door card off, because I have bought a couple of latch springs for the front doors as I have to turn the key in the lock, at the same time as trying to open the handle or the button drops down a little. The power steering pipe will also be done this weekend as it is leaving lots of little puddles on the road outside the house. Andy
  18. Hi all New here, so hopefully you will be able to help. I have a 1990 200 TDi with 191,000 ish on it, no history, but who would fake a mileage like that A few minor issues with it. 1. It appears to sit on one side at the rear (drivers), front appears ok, as no history, I suspect original shocks and springs, any other ideas??? 2. Leak from return pipe on power steering under radiator housing, a common fault I believe. I have ordered a new return pipe, but is it a nightmare to fit or not too bad?? 3. Central locking doesnt work (5 door) on either front doors, fuses under steering have been checked and all appear ok... 4. Passenger window doesnt work. I have tried other switches in the central console and it hasn't made any difference... Hopefully that is all fro the mo (only owned it for a week though) Many thanks Andy
