  1. Mo The reason your bolt holes do not line up is because you are missing a bracket, it's a metal plate that bolts to the side of the engine, the exhaust then bolts to captive nuts in this plate. Stuart
  2. Hi Twas I. I understand, I've got a whole 90 in bits that I can't find. So no panic, not needed to fit the steps yet! PM Sent Stuart
  3. As far as I know the genuine rear headling has always had the alpine cut out's. The rear headling was part of the County pack along with the alpine lights.
  4. Yes it will fit, did this last year. Make sure you get all the fixing brackets with the truck cab. Then it's a straight forward job. Stuart
  5. You say it has had side windows put in If these are after 'market windows' are they the exact size and shape as genuine, also have they been fitted in the correct position? I had a hardtop with after market windows fitted along with genuine trim panels, BUT the windows were longer than the hole in trim panel and the corner radius was different. Took the trim panels out because they never looked just right. I can take measurements of the trim panel window aperture if this helps. Stuart
  6. I have a Mercedes workshop manual that is titled Models 403 to 406/413 to 416. I assume this will cover the 404. Only done service items on Unimogs, not major repairs. I can scan and send you the relevant pages if that will help. Stuart
  7. It depends which gearbox the 90 has fitted. The LT77's had this bracket fitted. On the 380 gearbox the hand brake cable goes direct into the parking brake back plate. Stuart
  8. Les Could it be the bracket for the earlier type hand brake? Stuart
  9. Its not possible to get it on wrong. Yes it is on splines, but there is a master spline so it will only fit in the correct position.
  10. Have you checked the steering box drop arm?. With the wheels pointing straight ahead, the drop arm should be pointing straight ahead if it is not the drag link will need adjusting.
  11. I usually manage to get the shear bolts out by punching them round using a long centre punch. The switch is held in the back of the steering lock assembly by two small grub screws.
  12. The details will be here. www.landroverworld.co.uk
  13. I fit Dayco timing belts. I also always fit a crank shaft front oil seal (ERR 6490). Good luck you should get it done in a weekend.
  14. Just had a look on Rave. Hub Nut - 210Nm or 150lbs/ft Drive Member Bolts - 65Nm or 48lbs/ft
  15. Have had a few of these apart lately. It's not necessary to change the stub axle. The stub for the stake nut has the flat and not the groove. You can either just replace with the 2 nuts and lock washer. If you need to adjust the bearings, you will need to remove the spacer inbetween the two bearings and set it up the old way. Stuart
  16. Another tip when using a jig saw to cut ally is to use an aluminium specific blade. The aluminuim blade is quite course and the teeth do not clog up like the metal blades. I use these for fitting side windows and find it the best option.
  17. Thanks everyone, rang Phil Gordon this morning - sorted. It's a Husky 3.5 ton. Kev - NO you are not having it. Stuart
  18. Can anyone help me identify the model number of a Superwinch (Electric). The Serial number is EWS10131, line pull first layer 3850kg, 9mm rope, 13/11/92. This is the information printed on the plate attached to the winch. It came with a booklet for a Model H14, the problem is the booklet is for a PTO winch. This winch came off a 1992 Mountain Rescue 110 that had done 13K. Any information would be appreciated. Stuart
  19. Mo Just when you thought you were sorted, this is how the Carling switch should work! Accessory live in at No. 2 Out at No. 3 Earth is No. 7 Back Light live in at No.8 Number 3 is linked internally to power on light (small bar). Just done a test on a couple of ON-OFF switches and they worked fine wired this way. Hope this helps to get your 'back light lit' Still got the switches & battery here on kitchen table if you need any further info. Stuart
  20. How about finding someone with a 1" drive air impact gun. Perhaps trailering it to ATS or similar. Got one you could use but 200 mile is a long to travel. Good luck. Stuart.
  21. I am not familiar with Mazda engines but have done this with a Tdi engine. Remove gearbox mountings, lower the gearbox down on a jack, you can then reach the bell housing bolts over the top of the box with a socket on several extensions. The wobble extension bars are the best. Stuart
  22. Bought the one from Aldi. Used it for the first time today - sprayed a couple of land rover doors, well up to that job, maintained pressure OK. Stuart
  23. Just done my chassis and axles with 'Smooth Hammerite' used it before and it seems to last OK. Stuart
  24. I would allow yourself a weekend to do the conversion. The last one I did took all day - with assistance. An article in Land Rover World Magazine (Sept 2006) gives a good guide. Stuart
  25. James Try checking the discs, maybe one or both are warped or there could be a build up of rust on the edges. Also there could be some wear in the caliper causing excess movement of the pads. In the 'past' I have come across a different type of Anti Rattle Spring, it looks like a piece of bent wire - either end of this wire/spring hooks under each pin and the centre hooks over the tab on the pad, this seems to hold the pad more secure. (Has anyone else come across these?).
