  1. I have lifted the retaining plate etc, but the bronze bush is firmly stuck in and wont let the shaft outIs there a way to knock this out?
  2. The smooth cam gear shattered on my 8274 a a local event last weekend.I am trying to dismantle the winch to see the condition of all the other parts, I can't seem to get the mainshaft out, is there a special way to do this? thank you Lester
  3. I am planning to co drive in my friends winch challenge 90, we are intending to enter the muddy truckers trophy this year. As previous years require a gps we think we may need one this year. I would just like to ask for peoples advice on what they think is the best gps for this type of event and why, also taking into account easy of use, practicality, durability and cost Thank you in advance for your replies, i look forward to reading them Lester
  4. part of the floor has to be cut out, about 10-15cm in front of the door, to allow for welding and dropping the winch in, but u can replace the cut bit of floor afterwards and put it on a hinge, so the whole floor is useable but there is still access to the winch. it has worked well on mine. i dont have any pictures of mine with me becase i am at uni in liverpool and my land rover is in north northumberland. As regards the tow ball i dont know what it is rated to,as the pdf does not feature my car it was just something shaun send me. if you call shaun at north off road he will be able to discuss towing options, i haven't yet put a tow ball on mine as i dont need to do anytowing with my land rover.
  5. it was quite straight forward to fit. shaun gave me instructions on what to do and was very helpful. i just cut out the centre of the crossmember and a friend welded it in for me. it has worked really well for me as it doesnt hinder the load space or rear door and it just fitted a goodwinch tds.i gave it a good test at the ae forest challenge
  6. On my td5 i got a north off road winch crossmember, which fits a lowline winc. it replaces the centre sectio of the normal crossmember and the fuel tank doesnt need to be moved. it does increase the rear overhang a bit but i havnt found it to hinder me much. rear_winch_mount.pdf
  7. I put at TDS on the back of my 90 hard top which i use for some challenge events, i have been very impressed with its power, its not the fastest but when its warm the freespool works well.
  8. hi james, yes we got a reconditioned transfer box and have put that in, but robbie has bought a discovery td5 autobox and compushift to go in, so will be putting that in soon and we will hopefully be down for the event in october. Cheers Lester
  9. I got one from shaun at north offroad, it was build custom for my td5 90 but he has done a few similar cages since, it has a full cross and downstays in the back but i am afraid i dont have any pictures of it.

  11. Hello, We would just like to thank James, all the marshalls,X eng,OEC and everybody who helped us over the weekend. We really enjoyed the event and it was definatly worth the trip down from Northumberland to compete. Unfortinatly we broke the rear output shaft in the transfer box at lunchtimewhich ended our day, which was worse as it was at the far side of the site,so it took us almost 2 hours to get back to the car park. Thank you to everyone formaking us feel welcome and an enjoyable event. Lester and Robbie 4MUDDYFEET (Car 38, Black TD5 truckcab)
