  1. If you have time to look at a gauge, you have time to save the roll ! It's the fast, unexpected barrell rolls you need to cure haha ! G
  2. Ah...late night last night !
  3. Just use some wheel spacers with the rims from paddocks. G
  4. Find someone with a drum axle and just swap complete axle - easier and probably cheaper !
  5. Be careful. I haven't tested the thor IAC valve, but at 0v they're not necessarily closed. You could stick a variable voltage supply onto it and find what voltage closed is. G
  6. Actually rereading your first post, you have a forklift. Just make a system by which you put a hook on the bottom of an hydraulic cylinder. The smaller the diameter, the higher the pressure range - you'll have to work out what sort of weights you wish to weigh. Using the above spreadsheet a piston area of 1.22 sq in, you can weight up to 2,000kg attaining about 3600 Psi. Remember you'll have to factor in the area of the piston's rod because you'll be pulling down on it. G Picture from google : http://shagbarkfarms.com/public/Sawmill//HangingScales/
  7. I haven't got a picture of one we made, but get a LR bottle jack. From below, in the very centre, drill and tap a 1/8 bsp. Plumb this into a gauge of your choice - voila - you now have an hydraulic jack scale. This is the table i came up with, using a 1.25" bore. This is when the small part of the ram isn't extended, only the thicker one. (LR jacks are telescoping) Edit : it's not a simple task of copying a spreadsheet from excel onto the forum !
  8. Will an auto switching helmet work ok (speedglas) ? Or do you need a shaded lens ? G
  9. Viewed in the normal position i see mr booth
  10. You have one at my place when required. From my p38. Engine is out, box is still in, but wouldn't take too long to remove. G
  11. Mick, you want a 4.6 box ?
  12. Si, you've used a little micro switch on the Z. Can you list a part number for this, as I assume the bracket has been made to fit this ? Thanks Gordon

  14. Thanks Si, With regards to the stepper motor driver : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/191479002970 Do we need 3 of the above, or am i correct in thinking only 1 ? OR : 3 x http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/High-efficiency-CNC-Router-Mill-Lathe-1Axis-TB6600HG-Stepping-Motor-Driver-Board-/351283388174?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item51ca1f1f0e 1 x http://www.cnc4you.co.uk/Breakout%20board%20KK01%20CNC%20Stepper%20Motor%205%20Axis-with-Relay Which would you say is the simplest way for us ? I know you linked to simply bearings, but whilst on ebay i ordered these bearings : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161005813647?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&var=460165749308&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Edit : Well i'm keeping royal mail in business for the next few days ! The parts ordered (not including steel or 3 x TB6600HG) have come to about £400. That is having ordered all my fasteners from screwfix where they come in packs of 50 / 100.
  15. You didn't mention it was a merc engine in the first post I *assumed* it was LR. Are these the ratios you're on about : ? Mercedes-Benz Transmissions Gear 1 2 3 4 5 R1 R2 5G-Tronic (W5A330/Small NAG)[2] 3.951 2.423 1.486 1.000 0.833 -3.147 -1.93 5G-Tronic (W5A580/Large NAG)[3] 3.595 2.186 1.405 1.000 0.831 -3.167 -1.926 If so, i wouldn't worry. It's only first that is lower in comparison to the 22/24. After that you're ok. Having a nice low first would be quite nice actually. My th400 for my race truck has a 3.x first gear and i know my F250 has a really low first gear, that it only selects in the cold weather. G
  16. Why not keep it simple and go for a hp22 ? G
  17. Sorry, i should have said that before. I've raised my tds and tie bars. The option you should go for is 100ft 11mm bowrope G
  18. Sam, we've got bigger ends on our winches which helps but you can fit 125 on something like a tds - however you do need to spool it on carefully.
  19. Thanks for the info. The hypertherm's look nice, but not cheap. As much as i'd love one the above R-tech is probably £800 cheaper for a similarly spec'd machine. This will be a home project machine, not needed for work jobs etc. I'll keep my eye out on ebay to see what comes available. G
  20. I wouldn't bother with 9.5 Go with 11mm. We run 125ft on ours, it's very rare that we use all of it. If we need to, we just add an extension. If you got for a 150 ft, what will happen is you'll bugger up each end (once you've swapped ends around) and then have a waste of line left in the middle. We swap ends most events. G
  21. Si, Sounds like your machine is working well Could you post some pictures of items cut. On another note, what are peoples' suggestions for a plasma cutter ? I am limited to single phase. Gordon
  22. Understand about not wanting to do it more than once. Just trying to think of a way so that it's easy for all to get the same / correct. G
