  1. When the transition from the td5 engined Defender to the Puma based version was made what was changed regarding the transmission/Drive train. I presume the gearbox was a new version but what else if anything in the drive train was altered? And does any body have any comments on td5 v puma relaibility/performance. Thanks.
  2. Can anybody help me locate a link or details of Defender kerbweights. For model years 2010-2015. Thanks.
  3. That is ruddy awful an nice Defender totally trashed for the benefit of some thieving scum. I don't think we can even have the satisfaction of knowing whoever was driving it suffered a serious head injury - if he had their would have been some signs of blood on the interior shots, and I can't see any. Stuff like this really does make my blood boil
  4. Well I have to say that my daughter would luuuuuurv that car. Mind you she is 21, she has always loved RRS' and a pink one, well it she would just think it was great.
  5. Respect - an excellent post that says it all really.
  6. Number 13 caught me out so 29 out of 30. Thought it allowed for buses but the answer was no motor vehicles at all.
  7. That's a pretty cra@p start to the new year - where form??? Anything in the pipeline?? Snow??? - I think we got what they call a light dusting - sun came out at lunchtime and melted it in minutes....
  8. And then he lit a cigarette.... kaboom !!! lucky to escape. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/332910...-cigarette.html
  9. A nice green 90 Defender pick up!!!! Well a 1.32 scale model one by Britains, ............got to start somewhere.
  10. A pretty predictable response, however I would guess this is about proportions.....the vast majority of vehicles sold by Jag and LR are in the luxury sector, the vast amount of products sold by Toyota are mainstream, hence as per my original post I think Toyota's hit is a real indicator of the problems we face, It's really not rocket science to comment that the hit is not going to be even greater in the division responsible for lexus and LandCruiser, I reckon anyone could work that out.
  11. Original post 5.39pm, this one 9.12.pm As I said ...... RIP Land Rover.....it was really good knowing you.... seems nobody cares....
  12. I'm afraid when the mighty Toyota predict a loss we know we are all in the doogy doo's http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7794888.stm The luxury market which LR major in is I'm afraid under much more pressure than mainstream like Toyota so highly likely to be in even bigger trouble. My personal view is I don't really care who or how LR get saved but I truly hope they do, losing Woollies I can cope with (Unless I had worked there!!!) losing the Green Oval is unthinkable..........
  13. Nice one Ralph - now I'm late going xmas shopping!!! Good fun and cheaper than an off road driving course!!!!
  14. And to you all the best Mine -- to save enough to nearly get a td5 or puma 90 truck cab... times are hard so probably won't make it all, maybe in 2010.....
  15. On a td5 Discovery mirror they wont' flap, Good luck with your test.
  16. ALSO if he just used extended arms the examiner will be able to see whats going on - but he won't. Daft though it sounds he basically needs one set of mirrors for him and one for the examiner I know a small number of people who successfully use these: http://www.practicalcaravan.com/product/apr06.html The Milenco universal ones 10 down the list.
  17. Tad unfair I think given the original post. Any way the thread is about the 'modus operandi' of the scum that steal these vehicles not whether the police in a particular area respond or not when one is stolen.
  18. Not forgetting any loading applied for traffic offences, occupation (eg Publican and freelance musician yeah man!!!) all add cost too. As to the other question - sounds like they owe you to me too..
  19. Now despite my user name I don't profess to be an expert in this area but you are indeed correct, they can get through the most incredibly small gaps. Those gaps that normally exist between the panels on a Land Rover will present no obstacle what so ever...
  20. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7752430.stm Things not looking good at all :( Particularly not good at this time of year for the folks involved, agency workers or not.
