  1. That’s really helpful Maverick - thanks!!
  2. Hi all, What oils are folks running in LT85 in severe cold conditions? I’m talking -15 or -20 in winter here in Finland. This will be my first winter with it so appreciate any advice… Thanks!
  3. What I meant was the sheath was on it when I bought the loom from Autosparks But we can consider the topic closed - seems reasonable consensus it’s just to stop abrasion…. In parallel I’ll ask Autosparks
  4. Oops…I stand corrected… just remembered I bought this from Autosparks…….maybe I should ask them!!! 😜
  5. Actually it is original (albeit new old stock) it was a LR genuine part, part of the bulkhead engine loom which runs to the alternator etc. ….just a weird looking yoke 🤷🏻‍♂️
  6. Hi all, Anyone know what is this plastic cover which is on the lead running to my chassis mounted fuel pump? (3.5 v8) It’s about 14inches long or so… Is it some sort of heat shield or some other function that I need to be aware of? Thanks all!
  7. cheers - ill try those suggestions and report back later in the week.... getting frustrated as this is literally the only electrical thing not working on the truck now and stopping me tidying up the dash now...Grrr.... 🙂
  8. I thought that too, so disconnected the earth wire and connected the earth terminal from a Sealey automotive probe, but it didn't make any difference.... Im unsure if the wire is going via a relay -. as there are so damn many purple wires at the back. But I swapped all 3 of the relays on the fuse panel today as precaution also 🙂 Didnt change anything....
  9. Hi Western - I tried that with the previous stalk and broke the damn thing 🙂 Hence the brand new stalk unit just fitted today. So id doubt its a problem with the stalk again (although its Lucas, so anything is possible). The horn is just a basic after market horn with a + and - terminal. Its earthed to the slam panel, and 'beeps' when i push a positive feed to the wire connecting into it.
  10. Hi Steve... Ive applied a positive feed to the purple wire where it goes onto the stalk/button already but no luck. Its at that point where i'm measuring also - and its a vague flickering negative there, then press and its a strong negative. But understanding it shoudl go positive at depress. Ill try the temp wire however and see if that words...
  11. Sorry to resurect this topic again folks - but im stumped...again! Ive installed a brand new main lights/horn stalk. And the problem is still there and i cant trace the fault. All other functions on the stalk are working fine. The horn does work, all fuses are ok, hazards are working etc..... but i'm still not getting a positive when depressing the horn - it still goes from no signal to a negative when depressed. The wire isn't broken or damaged as i get the same effect on the end of the wire in the engine bay (i.e. i only get a negative signll there when horn is pressed) What the hell am I missing !! Help me Obi-Wan......
  12. Hi guys Nearly done with all my rewiring and only thing left to get working is the horn. I've got a basic offshelf generic horn - not the Defender original part. Ive read most of the horn related posts here also - but one quick questin. Is the horn wire (purple/blacktrace) switched positive or switched negative? I assumed positive, but using a tester my purple/black wire has no feed, then i press horn and it goes to a faint Negative feed. There is a high possibility my switch is faulty of course, but want to check this switching question first. (note that fuse seems ok, hazards work, clock seems to work (at least I hear the clock-works whirring if i'm quiet) the horn itself is working, and everything else is working)
  13. Thanks Weatern….. 2 m5 rivnuts now in place 👍
  14. Hi guys, it’s probably a very simple answer to this but asking anyway. The holes on my fusebox panel don’t have any receiving nut of any kind (I.e where the retaining thumb screws hold the plastic panel on). Looking at the back of the panel itself it doesn’t look like there ever was anything there either. is there something I’m missing or do I just need to stick in 2 M5 rivnuts?
  15. Hi all, this might be a stupid question - I have a LHD but using the motor I know came from a RHD vehicle, but for early LR90 I don’t see any difference in parts books in the wiper motor regardless which side it is - is that correct? So apart from swapping the wiper blades around, is there anything that need to be done to the motor itself? I’ve seen some reference to changing the direction on the gear mechanism so that it parks correctly but nothing concrete… any advise appreciated… Alan
  16. Ah. That answers that then 😊 Thanks mickeyw
  17. Yes, WOR said they don't have floor mats on their own, but that their molded matting system doesn't fit the LT85. They suggested fitting an R380 tunnel instead so that the floor matting system would fit 🙂 But for now i'd just be happy even with floor mats... I noticed however that the Cradocks ones with the part numebrs listed above state for ''4 speed V8'' ... I guess that was an LT95 then and not LT85? (I dont think there was ever a 4 speed LT85?)
  18. If you mean the mounded matting kits, I already checked with them and they don’t supply …. LHD and LT85 not a very common combo it seems 😊
  19. Hi folks cant seem to find any part number for the LT85 sound dampening foam under the gaiter - mine as disintegrated!! Google throws up for example ETX500050 but that seems to be LT77 or R380 only. thanks
  20. Thanks Western - if you’re happy those are the correct ones then that’s good enough for me 😊
  21. Hi Folks, hoping you can confirm if I have correct part numbers. I have a left hand drive 90 with an LT85 gearbox. Ive never had any floor mats in it, but I think what is needed is MUC2274 and MUC2275? The question is whether those will work for LHD models - i guess the LT85 tunnel itself is the same regardless of RHD and LHD so im hoping they fit regardless? If they dont work, would R380 mats work instead with a bit of trimming? Anyone have part numbers for those? Thanks as always guys... Alan
  22. Coolio... thanks.... brackets are ordered now so hopefully i can figure it out when i get them.
  23. Thanks guys / my issue is that I couldntsee WHERE they fit on the rear. I was actually replacing all the bearings and disks yesterday and was planning to fit the shields then, but I didn’t realize until too late that I needed brackets!! @Mossberg...super.. so if im looking right, the brackets are also using the caliper mounting points, is that right? And presumably just the caliper bolts also then.... and if so can I just slip these on the back by removing the caliper bolts without removing the hub and disks again?
  24. Hi folks I have a 90 but have fitted Disco 1 axles front and rear. I want to fit dust shields to the rear as there are a lot of unfinished roads and forest paths here in Finland. Does anyone have a photo of theirs maybe they can share, although I know many of removed them. But I wont be doing heavy mud stuff Do they just bolt to the axle directly or do I need these brackets FTC3299. Do I have to strip the hub, disks etc to fit like on the front or do these fit on the rear side near, i.e the diff side. p.s and are there any specific bolts to fit them, is the axle tapped...tks! Any help appreciated. Alan
