  1. up date my sunroof mechanism is completely fubared now. I now need a new mechanism and seals on the roof side of the glass ... I know this is a crazy job ..but has any one got any tips on replacing either? p.s .. I still to this day have'nt found out any thing to do with drains etc ...the only thing i have seen that makes the sunroof leak is due to roof rack bolts and perished seals
  2. follow up .... i left my landrover parked up for a year ..never even started it ...i bought a new battery for it and sent it in for an MOT ..passed hahaa anyway is this the pressure limiting valve i need ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-FREELANDER-TD4-CRANKCASE-BREATHER-AND-VALVE-/220653748476?hash=item335ffd00fc:g:cYgAAOxyUgtTKGa0 p.s.can any one advise about this 'modified' valve please ...maybe with links etc many thanks all
  3. re referring would you say that the power cables for the rear etc are running through the center transmission tunnel then veer off under the carpet to the rear drivers side door sill. then to the boot cheers
  4. well chap sticks I've had the cretin up on the ramps with a LR specialist and the VCU looks brand new .. all the bolts that are replaced with it are all new and shiny looking compared to everything else under there .. plus a fair bit of cash has been spent on it in the past with all new brake lines/hoses clutch etc etc phew.. the rear diff is only weeping oil so I have cleaned it up to monitor how much it does leak when i next inspect it ... as I know its a bit of a job replacing the oil seal. The scuffing noise I am hearing is carp in the rear brake drum (drums have a bit of corrosion about them, and was quite hard to pin-point the sound while being in the drivers seat) so I will whip them off and determine the conclusion of them at a later date ... So happy days .here's to more ASBO driving, smiles and fun with the landy haha FORWARDS!!!!!
  5. ah right excellent reply thanks for that ( great picture for VCU illustration haha ). I also didn't know it was that bit, I shall get onto this then thanks. Better to be safe than sorry Appreciated
  6. ah right ok then so does that mean that the only thing blocked will be the pipes, I can remove them clean and refit and that should be it? cool Thanks
  7. hi guys Just been looking through here and seen a few common problems with the freelander 1 which now has me worried Mine looks to have a leak from the rear diff, (not had it on ramps for better look yet) so would I be right in saying this whole unit needs replacing or is there a gasket that can fail where all the bolts are on the back of it. I have a few symptoms as follows : I seem to have to ride the clutch/ put more revs on when reversing and turning. The outer tread on one of the rear tires is worn. (This may not be related) When i turn left at junctions etc there is a loud catching sound from nearside rear wheel area I will try the one wheel jack up test tomorrow, if the result is that i can not turn the socket does this mean the VCU?? is shot and £££. 2nd the camshaft breather.. I would rather replace this as it sounds devastating if it blocks up. So is this an easy task and does all the air cleaner cover etc have to be removed to replace it?? whats this BMW conversion cone about. TD4. I'm proper paranoid now after being on here haha many thanks for any guidance in advance. Newbie
  8. Hi guys Just a quick ( probably not very often asked ) question but here it goes .. The cables that lead to the rear of the car like tail lights, back door electric window etc carry current... but cables for the rear door speakers don't so they are normally ran under under opposite side's of the interior door sill plastic's to avoid interference etc .....BUT ... does anyone know which side houses which please ??? cheers
  9. yeah its a 5 door pal.. and cheers matey I will have a look into the drains thanks ...makes sense how would you go about unblocking them though ???? Time to get the haynes out .... I have always dreaded taking head liners out of cars tho grrr .. (be sure to take a few calms before hand) sure i'll get to the bottom of it.. thanks
  10. HI all rather than start a new thread I thought i would 'bump' this one again.. I too have also got this common proplem of a leaking sunroof ... so is there any way of fixing this or does anyone know the cause of it ?? (seals, glass tension) etc etc... I would rather fix it myself to so any help or tips would be cool thanks
