  1. I have spent quite a lot of money on this p38 over the last couple of months (£2000) there about , and a purchase price of £1300 its a 1998 4.6 . Some times i have hated it but i have learned so much and enjoy that part. Now its running lovely and no overheating problems i enjoying it again. I did put a new radiator in it in the end £104 new. But what's always in the back of my mind is maybe it i done that first could have saved some money. As you guys suggested lesson learned. Thanks guys
  2. We took out the radiator it was a bit clogged up but enough to be worried about. So I found a engine on eBay and bought it. So that's going in on Monday and a new radiator. To be honest i thing i acted a bit hasty but it's arriving tomorrow and going in on Monday. Hopefully a couple of years care free motoring now.
  3. Thanks for your reply qwakers , we did have a look at the radiator before we started any work and decided it was ok. But the top hose was very hard under pressure we also looked at the thermostat and a previous owner had gouged out the actual thermostat just leaving the housing would have thought in a attempt to run cold constantly. But yes I will have it off for a proper look. But we done a sniffer test today and exhaust fumes are present in the cooling system. I am looking at costs for a block at the moment but it would need to come with a warranty .but I will have the rad off tomorrow.
  4. Well here is my story so far. I recently bought a 1998 V8 range rover 4.6 ,because to me that model is the quintessential range rover. But not had much luck with it I bought it just over a month ago. And it began overheating straight away. Poor selection of car on my part but that's another story. So far i have had the heads skimmed new gasket, replaced the thermostat. The water pump looks like it's been replaced recently. All this work was done at a garage by guys i know so confident in there work. One of them have suggested taking the heads of again and doing a pressure test on the engine. As much as I want to just get it all running right i must think about costs of work to value of car. So here's my question has anyone got any ideas what to look at next before I start taking the heads of again.
