Hi guys, I have a Defender 90 that is experiencing repeated front prop/UJ wear/failure and need to know if it has been lifted or not. Is there a simple measurement I can take from say the axle to somewhere that will tell me this? If it has been lifted, it is not my much and I don't think enough to be causing the issue, but I could do with knowing one way or the other. Cheers
Bye, bye Discovery, hello 109! Yep, thanks to wife´s Lancia, a disastrous clutch/flywheel failure and a BIG workshop bill, the savings I had for the Disco have been reduced to zero Fortunately, life gives us second oportunities. My bro has bought two 109"s, one from 1974, the other from 1975. Newer one has both a front and a rear halfshafts broken. The older one has a broken gearbox. At 300 eur each, with all the paperwork OK, are a bargain, and bro is happy selling one of them to me (he has not decided yet wich of them). Series vapour builds have started, and a SOA (Spring Over Axle) conversion is one of them. After searching the web for some info, I crawled undrer one of them and discoverded that the crossmember under the flywheel housing has very little clearance with the prop. Will this be a problem with a 10" suspension lift? (wider axles and torque bars are on the list).
Hello, A friend just gave me a new Eibach very good springs (set of 4), The front spring is 430mm and the rear is 470mm so I need to buy a new suspension kit (great gift). I can get Koni shocks at a good price. Does anyone have a good experience with them? What model will fit a 3" lift for the disco 2? Thanks yoav
Just discovered that im leaking fuel out of (I believe) the small hole near the top of the lift pump where it is cleanest on the picture. Is this just a need to replace the lift pump or some other problem? Im also not sure if im leaking more oil than normal or if its just the fuel washing oil of the rest of the engine to make me think this.
