Donald22
Hello. Hope someone can help me as I am needing some information about my Freelander TD4 2004 model, while looking for a wiring fault I removed the top cover from the box containing the ECU and fan motor to discover it has a small amount of oil in the bottom, does the ECU have oil inside it and it has leaked out? is it supposed to be there? it is NOT engine oil as it is clean almost new looking, if it is out of the ECU what can I put in it? High Voltage transformer oil? Thank you in advance
FridgeFreezer
Pretty sure ECU's shouldn't contain oil, sometimes it can wick along wires and into enclosures so perhaps that's what's happened.
Donald22
OK Thank you Fridge Freezer, I will wipe it out, I know the TD5 had a problem with oil in the ECU box but this one is higher than the engine, maybe something to do with the ECU cooling fan which is in the same box Edited May 18, 2017 by western corrected
