scenar
I have a Series 3 with safari roof and vents. My question is if these vents should be spring tensioned or something, because they don't stay really open when I unlock them. thanks in advance, john series 3, 88" lime, 1975
jordan_meakin
Nah, that's how they are. They do tend to close which is pretty annoying. Without looking, I seem to think the joints are riveted too so not easy to tighten. If you can squeeze some PTFE tape in, that might help... Or thick grease used subtly?... AV8R
I have to go back some 50 years when my father had my 88 and the Safari roof. Took us some time to discover that when you pull the latch aft to open the vent, keep the latch aft while pushing the lid fully open. Release the latch and it should pop into a notch in the lid. Spring tension will now keep the lid open. Clever system but you won't find it in the owners manual.
