Arjan
As you guys are a great source of wisdom, etc... I hope you can tell me what this is ? I was led to believe it is a thermosstat housing for the R380 and attaches the oil cooler to ? And the "sensor" ? Warning light or gauge sensor... Thanks Edited August 9, 2017 by Arjan

neil110
No it is not an oil cooler thermostat, it is an over temperature warning sender unit. The oil cooler thermostat look like this. Although this link says it is for the LT77 it is very similar to the unit I have fitted to my R380 http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?query=ftc1404&xBrand=&part_type=&xSupplierID=&product-sort=&xPerPage=10 R380 type, no illustration, sadly. Price is pretty sad as well. http://www.brit-car.co.uk/search.php?query=ftc2687&xBrand=&part_type=&xSupplierID=&product-sort=&xPerPage=10 Edited August 9, 2017 by neil110
western
Yes main gearbox Overtemp switch, got one on my R380 but it has a blanking cap not the switch. [ringed in orange on my pic below] I have the switch but haven't yet bothered to fit/wire the switch. some have the unit as noted above & connected to a oil cooler below normal radiator. uses a slate grey/red trace wire from switch to dash light. Bowie69
Fridge's sticky temp stickers would be able to tell you that, but according to him, 80MPH on French Autoroutes in the ambulance said 'Oui'.

I'll dig the piccy out with the actual number on it but yeah, spent about ~6 hours at 130kph in the French sunshine, ambulance is 2.8 ton and less aerodynamic than skip full of Ikea wardrobes, R380 didn't break a sweat. Bowie69
I seem to remember @Arjan tows a fair bit, suspect temps could be a bit higher then... but as they say, test don't guess, otherwise you can just be throwing good money down the drain.
