reb78
I need a new rear prop for the 110. On looking on LRCAT, it seems there is a different one for the pre 200tdi 4cylinder engines, then one for the 200tdi era vehicle then a different one for the 300 tdi onwards etc. My 110 is originally a 19J TD, but now has a 200tdi fitted. Its a 1989 model with a Salisbury rear axle. Can anyone confirm the part number I need to order please? Britcar and LRDirect have some Hardy Spicer units at good prices so I was planning on one of those once I know the correct part number. FTC3245 is stated for my age of vehicle but LRDirect says wont fit the 200tdi (i cant figure this out as the transfer box is in the same place isnt it? unless the 200tdi didnt come with the Salisbury and its long nose??) FRC8389 – is stated as for the 200tdi, but presumably cant be the same as what is currently on there (which is the original prop)?
landroversforever
Transferbox position is the same for all 200tdi and before as far as I can remember? And yeah, the 200tdi would have had the salisbury rear axle. Maybe the 200tdi era prop supercedes the previous versions?
reb78
Thats what I thought, but this LRDirect blurb confused me when it states FTC3245 wont fit tdi vehicles - essentially this must be what i have at the moment, so i cant figure out the difference (if there really is any). https://www.lrdirect.com/FTC3245-Propshaft-Rear-S3-Lwb110-4Cyl-To/
landroversforever
Must be referring to the 300 tdis then surely? Would it work if you cross referenced from say Gwyn Lewis shafts? work out which one of theirs fits and what the equivalent standard one is? As a way of confirming the number? reb78
That would make sense. I looked at Gwyns site - i dont think he uses the standard LR numbers. I reckon FTC3245 must be whats on there at the moment, so I will probably go with that.
Cchase
Reb78, Are your yokes in good shape? I took my propshafts to a truck repair shop and had mine rebuilt (new shaft, reused yokes and balanced) for much less than a replacement unit, especially if you add in the cost of shipping. Good luck, Colin
cackshifter
The price is definitely right; I wonder what is the country of origin? A quick look at Microcat suggests FRC8389 might be yours; again the price right. Nigel
reb78
There's rotational play in my sliding joint so I'm not sure they can be rebuilt or is this part of the new shaft?
western
I still have my original TD rear prop, same vehicle model & year & engine but with a Stumpy R380 main gearbox. a replacement will be complete with new UJ's & sliding joint ready to fit. you need FRC8391 That's what I would buy if my rear prop required total replacement. FRC8389 is for V8 models, don't know what if any difference is.
reb78
Thanks Ralph, Most suppliers say FRC8391 is superceded by FTC3245 so I guess that's the one??!
western
Yep, looking at the LRDirect link says that too as well as 'not for 200tdi' so some duff info there, all 4 cylinder engines locations on the chassis inc 200 but not 300 tdi are the same
