daveturnbull
Anybody (HFH?) know the difference in length between a short and long nose rover diff? I'm looking to convert my rear axle from long to short (have a complete new axle) and want to know how much longer the propshaft needs to be. Which leads neatly onto my next question, are propshaft spacers evil? (Like wheel spacers are evil, especially the aluminium flavour)
Snagger
I read on AULRO about a great many pinion failures on the short nosed diffs. They seem to think them weak, and that a pegged long nose diff with 4-pin centre is stronger. Might be worth asking Nige.

daveturnbull
So I got them side by side and did some measuring. Turns out it's about 1 inch different. @dailysleaze I'm willing to bet that was salisbury axle to short nose, not long nose to short nose. Bowie69
An inch may make a difference for a 5 speed and LT230 equipped 88" Series...
