DC_
Ok so I head off today on my first whole week off of the year into the highlands.... about 2 hours into the trip. I noticed a loss of power. Pulls in to let quicker traffic pass, says to her indoors, I can smell diesel..... so after a look, discovered injector pipe number 4 (2.5 n/a) looks to have a pin hole just a cm or two away from the fuel pump itself. 🙄🙄🙄 so before I get hung drawn and quartered. Is there a quick fix so we can explore the highlands? I’ve limited tools and only got gorilla tape.
Bowie69
In the steel pipe?
DC_
Looks like it. Started it up on inspection. Spraying up from the pipe. Put tape and tie wraps on to make it drip down rather than spray.
DC_
Ordered pipes from John Richard surplus. Sending them out special delivery tomorrow. So hopefully be here Wednesday. I can get the suspect pipe off tommorw and do a bit of walking. Honestly cant believe it’s let me down when I’ve got two other cars up the drive at home 🙄😔
Bowie69
Yeah, not a lot else will hold the diesel in at that point
DC_
And the three pubs are shut.......
qwakers
bit of rubber pipe and 3 jubilee clips to make a plaster. will get you home..
DC_
Pipe number 4.... looked in the cupboard in the middle of no where... no jubilee clips 😂😂 one way or another I’ll get it sorted. Oh..... found a bottle of rum !!
Scotts90
Yes I'd do what qwakers said. Some tight fitting fuel pipe and a couple of jubilees... or some JB Weld/chemical metal may stem the flow
DC_
You guys have had more rum than me 😂 when I get a signal, I’ll send you a pic of where I am
Scotts90
You're in the highlands... There are loads of abandoned Landies lying about up there! Find a farm and get some nice crude agricultural engineering repairs done. Have you ever seen what a farmer can do with a stick welder?? (Keep it clean chaps )
Mo Murphy
A drop of solder would probably fix it if it's a pin hole. Mo
DC_
So pipe off and found a hairline crack right next to the nut. Thanks for the input guys. Don’t have a thing here to try fix it other than gorilla tape and tie wraps. Let’s just pray the parts come tomorrow 🙏

DC_
Arisaig JockLandJohn, I’ll be like a kid looking out the window for the postie tomorrow.
Jocklandjohn
Great place, got relatives in the graveyard there, my grandfather born in a crofthouse nearby! Worse places to be stuck. Well at least you've got the parts on the way. If there's any problems I'm over near Inverness with a LR dealership and independent LR spares shop so can get most stuff you might need pretty fast if you're stuck.

Jocklandjohn
PM sent. Yes fantastic area - it's a real otter hotspot too, and if you go out on the Eigg/Rum ferry you might see whales. Sea eagles are around there too so keep eyes open!
