Portable jump starter

Hi,

I had a dead battery the other day as someone had left an interior light on.

I was thinking of getting one of the small portable jump starters, something like the one hopefully copied below,  and was looking to see if anyone had any recommendations or experiences of them?

My dad has one, by all accounts he's very impressed with it, and all the stuff you see on Youtube and like reviewing them are very positive. 

I don't remember which one my dad has, but I think even the Britpart ones seem to go down well.

Very neat and compact looking!  Do they have a big enough kick for a cold Landy?

Yep, very much so.

My dad uses it on his 2.8l diesel Hiace amongst other things.

any idea how many amps your Dad's unit kicks out? I've seen some for 400 amps but was originally looking at a 600 amp version.

I have a similar unit, it quotes 200(400)A and works (but not quite as well as a larger unit), but i think the let-down are the small section leads. They get warm after use so must be dropping some voltage. I was pondering modifing the leads and seeing if its improved

Just don't expect to be able to take it on a plane as a large USB power source (was thinking of getting one for this purpose), as it is too large to be allowed.
