Gazzar
I am restoring a lightweight at the moment, and the plan is to put MS as the engine management system on the 2.5 petrol engine I have put aside. But, it now transpires that the Lightweight was a winterised FFR, which means 24v electrics. I can still go civvy spec, but the 24v thing does appeal, god know why. Apparently one can obtain voltage droppers, 13.8v, but would they be good enough to run a MS install? Clean enough power when it's needed? Sufficient to fire the sparky thing? Thanks, G. FridgeFreezer
The MS ECU draws very little power (less than an amp), the high-current stuff is the fuel injectors and EFI fuel pump, plus lambda sensor heater. The ignition system, whatever that may be, would also draw a fair bit if it's running from the dropper. I'm not sure how much current that lot draws in total or how well it'd all run from a dropper.
