Simon_CSK
I have a problem with my gear selection seems to go into 3 4 and 5 ok but finding 1 and 2 seems difficult. It feels like the sift selection has a fault like it will not go over far enough. Any ideas?
Pawl12
That sounds like the plastic bush at the bottom of the gear lever is breaking up. Quite cheap to replace, but you've got to remove the centre console & drill out the rivets holding the tunnel plate.
JohnnoK
Could that also lead to an irritating buzz on the gearstick? My D2 has a very noticeable buzz on the stick that only goes away with a hand on the stick, which leads to all sorts of other issues around safety. I replaced the engne mounts which were very sagged and it made a slight improvement, but it's still there.

Could be the gear box mounts as well

For that price it is worth a try,
bear
In order to do that job you'll see if the bias plate is ok too. If it was me I'd rplace it as a matter of course. Simon_CSK
I replaced the plastic bush and checked the bias plate wasn't broken but still no joy. I did fix the hand brake so not a completely wasted day lol I am guessing therefore it must be something deeper in the gearbox. As long as the car keeps going until I can fix my other Disco and my P38 I will be happy.

JohnnoK
Is that number 13 on the diagram posted in bear's link?
finnarne
Yes, number 13. When I changed the gearbox in my D2 (auto -> R380), I had an annoying sound that went away when I had a hand on the gearstick. It also helped to tightened that bolt.
