DC_
Well if there’s one thing that’s persuading me more and more to get a heater in the 110, it was sleeping out in -4 at the weekend. Not too bad in the truck under the duvet but the heater would have made it more enjoyable. just a few from camp.......

Retroanaconda
It’s a nice spot, unfortunately in the summer it’s now full of neds from Glasgow who have been punted up from Loch Lomond by the camping ban. Did you see the new bridge being built at the Allt Broighleachan car park by the falls?
DC_
Some project.... is this to link the road to Bridge of Orchy? Or a forestry road?
steve b
The Glen Orchy I visited is in New Zealand , and I can see why it was named that . Lovely pics DC . cheers Steve b
Retroanaconda
It’s a forestry road which already links through the forest on the north side of the glen up to Bridge of Orchy. There was an existing Bailey bridge in place which had a 3t weight limit - the new one will be 44t and so will allow timber traffic from the south side of the glen to get to the A82 without using the B8074. Glen Orchy is to be fairly busy over the next few years. The new bridge is going to be ‘launched’ across once the second abutment is done, hopefully I’ll be able to get out and see it. This was the old Bailey - it’s some span!

skirky dave
Stunning mate,..Lucky you. Try doing this in the uk and the land officials want to move you on, or fine you !!.
DC_
It’s such a shame as the responsible adventurers know how to treat the land. It’s the neds (chavs) that spoil it. We can “Wild camp” and use 90% of the rivers to kayak etc..... there’s a few areas that have a “management system” in place in peak season. After all..... the Land has been here for a few years before us?? Why should anyone tell us it’s theres? 👍😎
Ed Poore
Glad you weren't in -10 like it was when I was up in the Highlands last month. But I do the Highlands.
Retroanaconda
Camping with a car is not wild camping under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, however done with respect it’s tolerated in many places. As ever it’s the minority that spoil it, during the summer our local team collects dozens of bags of rubbish from Glen Orchy each Monday morning. Regular fire damage, people felling trees to burn etc. - just mindless idiots with no respect for property. Glen Etive suffers much the same - it’s the next glen up the road after all. I’ll try and find out the dates for the bridge launch, second abutment got poured today apparently (if the snow let up) so should be soon. If not I’ll definitely try and get some pics. Anderzander
It does look beautiful - I can imagine the only downside to having a diesel heater will be not wanting to go home ....
DC_
I’m also in the page about Glen Etive on FB. So sad. If you could get info that would be great cheers retroanaconda 👍

skirky dave
DC.....Yep, totally agree with you, Last year at the end of October, a friend and me went out for a night drive in the landies and pulled up in a designated lay- by nr Matlock Derbyshire. 1.30 in the morning. A pcso turned up and asked us what we were doing just driving around and pulling up for a cuppa as she thought it was abnormal behaviour to be out at that night doing what we were doing. I replied, so this is down to nothing more than your opinion....are we in breach of any act or statute or for that matter in breach of any common law. We are parked in a lay by for it's designated use, as laid down by Derbyshire County Council. She insisted that she thought it odd. I replied "Hang on,..there's a large hill over there called MAM TOR which, people throw themselves off, suspended by nothing more than an aluminium frame, a nylon cover and hope they land on both feet safely, which by the way is how they started off,..yet,...you think what we are doing is strange...go figure. I refused to talk to her after that and returned to my landy,...she drove off a little rattled. Up till then , we were having a great time!!! I have nothing against the police at all, but some pcso's need to lighten up, they don't even get paid. It really upsets me that we have all this countryside in the uk, yet we are constantly told to move on, but up in Scotland you can just pull in, set up a tent and stay the night only to enjoy the fantastic views in the morning with a brew. Try doing that in the Peak District!!!. No chance.
