Happyoldgit
Did it loose any oil this time?
daveturnbull
Yes, nice trail of it down the road. Looks to be coming out of the oil filter seal again. I parked it up and shut the engine off quickly so not to starve the big ends etc...
daveturnbull
After the car sitting on the road outside the garage I took it to, and them doing sweet FA despite multiple failed promises, I decided enough was enough, screeched into the forecourt in my Land Rover, parked on the boss man's toes and demanded the keys back, which he duly handed over and walked away without a word. That evening I went back to see what state it was in. As expected battery flatter than 3 week old road kill, and the oil filter O-ring hanging out again. After a big sigh, I sorted those out, chucked some more oil in and drove it the half a mile home. This evening I made some time to get it in the garage and up on some ramps. 20 minutes later, and out pops the PRV. Can you see the problem...? Bowie69
Hmmm, 20minutes? So what took them 3 weeks?
Retroanaconda
So the PRV is accessible without dismantling the engine then? Good news.
daveturnbull
It was pretty easy to get to in the end, just the air con pump to move out of the way. Hence 20 minutes.
Bowie69
Well I am pleased for you, but perplexed by the garage's behaviour...
cackshifter
Not entirely surprised at the garage, but great result.
Happyoldgit
Good that you can get to the PRV and discover an issue.
Cynic-al
If the spring is broken and therefore shorter wouldn't that mean it would lift earlier and so be lower pressure? Or do you think the bits were jamming it shut? Either way replace the bits and see what happens
daveturnbull
When I first took the end cap off, some of the broken rings were clearly wedged in sideways between the cap and plunger. By the time I found a magnet to retrieve them, they had fallen out of their own accord so missed the opportunity for a picture.
