stanleysteamer
Hi, simple question I hope. When buying secondhand lpg tanks, is there an actual legal age beyond which they cannot be used, even if in good condition? Thanks
western
This on a australian website https://www.raa.com.au/motoring-and-road-safety/car-advice/lpg-tank-testing LPG tanks in vehicles must be inspected once the container has been in use for 10 years. stanleysteamer
Hi Western, I used to work with Mike from Greyhound recovery. I was the bloke who took the tumble once while training at Goodwood, a few years back. I've read the stuff about Australia, but I am not sure regs are the same over here. Thanks for the info keep safe!
western
Hi, I just put that as it was the top of the list google search put up, other than UK LPG installers I'm not sure where to find the info about retesting vehicle lpg tanks.
elbekko
There's no hard limit on it, as Western said they have to be tested every 10 years, and can stay in service until the test comes back negative.
Jon W
LPG tanks for house use or vehicle use? House use cal or type gas tanks they check dates and will refuse to fill if not checked I think. Vehicle, mine has just been in for the lpg system to be checked over as was having changing over. So got them to check over the system. Comments that came back. LPG tanks very rusty. But no guide of whether they are dangerous or need changing
