I was getting a sofa off the roof with my wife and it slipped out of my hand.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone I've had a run of bad luck and needed to vent. Hopefully things are going to improve, if not this thread may go on a while.......

Now now, you aren't quite at JeffR level yet.

No I must admit I couldn't  believe it at the time. I thought for a minute I was about to wear a windscreen.

I'm having a hell of a job getting the screen sorted after checking 4 company's the earliest replacement is Monday! If I can find one I'll do it myself but my local lr specialist doesn't Carry them.

.....I reckon you should stay in bed on April 1st Mike :) or buy £20 of lotto tickets...... , I've had a few bad runs of "luck" , but also some really fortunate "luck" too over the years  . I'm sure this pigeon is the first sign of a change in the wind :)

cheers

I've got to the point now where nothing surprises me. The irony of this is the lr luck is only the half of it. I have a whole world of child related bad luck going on at the moment as Well. But we are all healthy, stressed, tried, busy and skint but healthy.

To be honest half the reason for this thread is to entertain others because you can't make this up. But also for me to vent which helps me suck it up and move forward. I could give up buy a normal car but that's not me  and the personal life part is not going to change.

Advice, sarcasm and comments all welcome I'm definitely NOT looking for sympathy a windscreen yes ;) but not sympathy. :P

Reading this I'm beginning to feel extremely fortunate with my 4 month transfer box repair saga.

Maybe I should sell this td5 long and look for a tesla and ten new solar panels.

Heck and electric motor and a battery, like a scalextric car only bigger and without the braids and triggers.

Why didn't they just redesign and place build quality at the top of the priorities.

Britain is in many ways like Spain, the business mentality is just awful. I'm equally guilty. Make your money and escape and don't trade your life in exchange for material accoutrements.

Couldn't think of an English word.

Anyway I've got 6-7,000 euros of beef cattle on the loose and needing locating, worth more than the 5500 euros i paid for the defender. And the lost diesel filler cap? Uff, priorities priorities.

Rubber collected form gotts this morning, discovery scrapped lunchtime and remaining bits of dead engines collected from tsd. Hopefully a friend is delivering a screen this weekend. Finally if the weather behaves 45's head gasket tomorrow it would help if the radiator I bought this week was actually a 200tdi item as opposed to the Lord knows what that arrived today.

Used the rad out of the 110 as it was watertight but tired. Swapped head with one of the others because of the core plug and I suspect it's warped. But got it done and back on the road. However the wife pointed out this morning she doesn't like the death wobble. Guess I'm doing panhard bushes tonight.

Changed the screen last night with help from the wife. Thanks to a friend for giving and delivering it to me.

You've swapped so many chunks of car around it's like playing Land Rover tetris!

You ain't kidding but they are both running at the moment. Still don't know what to do, whether to sell (probably) 45 and get a normal car (for the wife) or to stick with it.

I don't want a normal car but work and school runs have been a problem. Plus we have other issues that consume vast amounts of time so maintenance time is at a premium.

You are not the only one with bad luck. This is me 2 weeks ago with my ultra reliable Polo waiting for the AA man:

There is a primary fuel filter next to the tank which corroded through and immediately lost fuel pressure and stopped; VW dealer has never replaced one before and had to wait a week for a replacement. Positives: it wasn't raining and an excuse to use my landy to get to work!

You do need a dependable car though.
