Standard early defender ones have one UJ longer from spline bolts to the centre of the UJ and that was enough to move it.

Stellaghost
My Sodbury sort out full length intercooler, in badly need of a wash Have to say I'm not impressed with the shape of this, not very conductive to smooth air flow On the plus side fits very nicely into my front panel Just need to sort out some bracketry This will be free and cleaned for anyone that wants it Regards Stephen

Looking at that price, mine was a bargain, so even less reason to complain regards Stephen

If it bothered you that much then take the reading for the waste gate from the inlet manifold rather that the turbo where they normally are. grill gooks great by the way. I wouldn’t have had the patience to stamp all that out. 1

dangerous doug
21 minutes ago, Stellaghost said: Are there any issues I need to be aware of with fitting a full length intercooler ? Regards Stephen Not really. As I said you want to plumb the wastegate reference to the inlet manifold as it’s taken from the “hot” side and by the time the charge has cooled down you’ll have a massive pressure drop. I really wouldn’t be worried about the flow of the cooler pipe when the core itself is a bigger restriction.

ThreePointFive
Seeing it with the doors and tub on it's suddenly looking like a car. I cannot wait to see what it ends up like.
Daan
13 hours ago, Stellaghost said: Are there any issues I need to be aware of with fitting a full length intercooler ? Regards Stephen The main issue is that your radiator now is less effective, so a larger one would be better. Allisport does one, or I think people have used a TD radiator, as it is larger. Great progress btw, I am very jealous of your level progress. Daan

rusty_wingnut
I'd be keen on your Aliisport cooler - let me give you some money for it though!
L19MUD
I really wouldn't worry about the reduced cooling ability of your radiator. A 200tdi runs cools in any case. After I fitted mine I towed the camping trailer, kayaks and bikes all round Devon in the heatwave a couple of years ago up and down the hills. The gauge never moved from being bang on the middle I can't tell you the effect of just the intercooler as I upped the boost to 15psi and tweaked the boost pin at the same time but that collectively made a huge difference to my 90 where I used to struggle to get from 4th to 5th on an incline when towing.
