Stellaghost
Need to rig up a slitting saw on mill to cut next section for gearbox side Also the below has possibilities for joining the two Flanges together One alloy wheel rim Fits around flywheel nicely so there is possibilities with this, just need to cut things down and see how its goint to work to make a complete adaptor regards Stephen
Bowie69
To clarify, are you cutting the LT77 bellhousing down or something else? As usual you have things done before I can think about leaving my day job alone.

No I'm cutting the aluminium casting down on the end of the 200tdi engine that fits around the Landrover fly wheel, this gives me the lt77 mounting points, this is what needs joining into the 1uz flange I've made, I need to make up a 35mm gap, but may stretch that to 40mm if it gives me a bit more wiggle room Also looking to make threaded studs for the 1uz side as it may give me more room putting a bit on as allows to trying to get a bolt in Hopefully that makes sense as I've still got tired nightshift head on, although last one tonight Regards Stephen 4

Stellaghost
So got my Bridgeport running this morning, still need to suss a few things out, but I need it for a wee bit of Heath Robinson fun So one drill attachment in the lathe with a disc grinder nut on it to turn down disc locating section why? because i needed to fit a circular saw blade onto it insert into chuck on mill and bolt casting to cut onto bed Start cutting, this is not where final cut will be, just seeing if it will work and no damage sustained by myself ...lol 20230818_144714.mp4 Appears to be OK will just need to go slow and steady could have done it on my other mill but the Bridgeport has a way bigger bed and range of compound slide movement so i should be able to set it up to do all in one position, could not do that in my other mill without repositioning regards Stephen

ped
that's one way of doing it i use a slitting saw and arbor now and again as i mostly need a thinner kerf cut did you do it in one go or leave a few holding bits to stop it flapping about and trapping th blade

landroversforever
When using a slitting saw on something likely to vibrate and be a pain I used to use a couple of techniques. If it was something like slitting the side of a tube, I used to shove a blue tack like material we use for vacuum leak checking inside to stop it moving about. For things that could be clamped, I’d use a slip gauge in the gap the blade is creating and clamp that up to take out the vibration. The latter also means if you do it in a few places you can keep the workpiece solid.

Popular Post Stellaghost
So cutting of adaptor parts this morning (sorry to disappoint you @Ed Poore ) Voilà Sort of mounted together will be some issues with bolts but I figure I can mill down through bolt holes then enlarge to take Allen bolt head ( smaller than using conventional bolts probably need to clean things up, dig out spool gun, mate box to engine with loose bits in-between and tack together, pretty sure it will not go as smooth as talking it Regards Stephen
elbekko
Impressive. Let it soak in degreaser for a good while before you attempt to weld that? 1

dangerous doug
If you have one I would blast that with ac tig to pull the imperfections out of the castings before just hitting it with the spool gun.
