timc1967
I discovered my downpipe is not secured correctly and the join has skewed (at clamp #2 in the picture). Rather than just rejoin it, I have ordered all the parts to attach the correct brackets: 1. to the block half way down the downpipe 2. to the chassis at the back end of the downpipe All the parts are now on their way to me, except #4 screw in the diagram SS106161L, (of which I need 2), which is apparently Out Of Stock at Landrover. So I want to find an alternative. Any suggestions? I presume its a standard thread and the variation in the various screws in the diagram not completely arbitrary - like specific length what, I have no idea as the parts are missing completely on my old bus. ianmayco68
Britcar is a good place to find things out like this they usually tell you the size , if it’s obsolete , and the part number for the replacement part . According to it that part is obsolete and there are no newer alternatives but it says it’s a m6 x 15 Allen head screw . cheers Ian
timc1967
Great site - thanks. I will be receiving item #8 SS108161L which I now see is an m8 x 16 so wont substitute. I guess tensile strength is a factor, but I will probably have no choice and have to source something m6 x 15 of the appropriate length which should be obtainable. cackshifter
Hi, SS108161L is a Socket Screw (SS), metric(1), M8(08), 16mm(16) long, zinc plated(1). So it should be fine. Don't know where 15 came from , in any case it would be just 1mm shorter.
ianmayco68
If the plate has tapped holes in it you could open them out and re tap them to m8 .
western
my downpipe is bolted with 1 bolt direct to the engine block on my 200tdi, the bolts SS106161L SCREW M6 X 15MM ALLEN HEAD are obsolete, that's why LR are out of stock. try here for matching thread/length http://www.a2stainless.co.uk/ bought lots of fixings from here always a great quick service. Scotts90
My downpipe has two socket cap Allen bolts onto the engine block bracket. No idea of length just from the boxofmanybolts of M6 flavour in the shed
