What's it worth? Clean TD5 + R380 with paperwork

Apologies if this is the wrong place for this but hopefully some folks in the know can help.

Basically, I bought a complete 2006 TD5 Defender drivetrain from a breakers (stolen recovered) in order to get my hands on the overdrive attached to it. Having had that away with the transfer box, I'm left with an incredibly clean low-mileage TD5 and R380 with paperwork and literally no idea how much it's worth.

Suggestions have ranged from £750 to £1500

Trouble is I've got a mate who's interested and asked me to name my price, otherwise I'd have just stuck it on eBlag and let the market decide.

There is a 10P TD5 engine only on the awdc Facebook page for £250. Must be worth £500 with the defender g/box.

I think anywhere near £1500 is a bit strong, especially to a mate, you’d have your choice of D2’s for a grand, which obviously gives loom, cooling pack, etc etc plus the axles to sell and rest of the car to weigh in

Edited to add: I bought a 1500mile engine and box in 2007(ish) with tank, loom, cooling pack etc for £1500

If your mate doesn’t want it and you’d split it I’d buy the engine !

I think they are going for quite strong money - especially the 15p motors.

I’d have thought £1000 to be fair it’s a nice clean engine and box with all the ancillaries and hoses , there’s two on eBay for £1600 .
