roamingyak
Can somebody kindly sense check this please? 😉 I have a R380 short bellhousing gearbox, a replacement for a LT77 (ex MOD) on my 200TDI. Originally I just swapped the gearstick lever and knob over (reverse now showing incorrectly) and everything has been fine. However the gearstick thread has now gone, hard to get the knob to stick on it even with tooth floss as I call it etc. So looking to replace the gearstick and knob, is it part number UKE000080 that I should order?https://www.landroverworkshop.com/diagrams/gearbox/r380/gearchange-lever_53550 This has a smaller thread on the top than my original LT77 ex MOD stick? Double checking as its quite expensive! Edited July 17, 2018 by roamingyak
western
AFAIK the actual gearstick is the same, mine was changed from a LT77 to a stumpy R380 years ago & gearstick swapped straight over as did the turret, recently fitted a Slick Shift kit but the gearstick top section remains my original part. looking at 110 parts book, same part number for LT77 & R380 upper gearstick was FRC7860 now UKE000080 https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/133724/0/gear_lever_lt77_r380_def R380 gearchange knob is BTR9270 https://www.brit-car.co.uk/product.php/110587/0/gear_knob_plastic_r380____defender_1987_to_2006
roamingyak
Thanks.... But I bought a R380 knob (looks the same as your link) and it doesn't fit onto the gearstick (originally a 1991Â LT77 2.5 n/a ex MOD). The stick thread is too big.... western
you have to screw the new knob on, it will cut its own thread into the insert inside the knob,

OK, I will give it a go, they seemed very different sizes, but I'm always cautious when in doubt.... Thanks in advance!
western
inside is just a plain plastic insert, not threaded until its screwed on to the gear stick thread
