ThreeSheds
My 40 year old Mitutoyo 150mm dial caliper has finally given up the ghost so I am looking for a replacement... Best I can afford is £100 and would prefer new. Not interested in vernier or electronic... Would anybody recommend anything please?
Ex Member
Why not just get another Mitutoyo? They are within your budget. Why the hate against digital? https://www.hroberts-di.com/calipers-c2/mitutoyo-505-732-dial-caliper-0-150mm-p151 https://www.mqs.co.uk/mitutoyo-505-675-dial-caliper-white-face-range-0-6-accuracy-0-001-graduation-0-001.html Of course, you need to be more specific.... There are a variety of accuracy and quality choices, metric, imperial.... https://shop.mitutoyo.co.uk/web/mitutoyo/en_GB/mitutoyo/01.03.03/Dial Caliper/index.xhtml Edited August 19, 2018 by Red90
JohnnoK
You may even be able to get your Mitutoyo repaired. I mangled a dial indicator at work and reduced it to kit form, and it was repaired and returned to us with a calibration certificate. This is a US address, but the UK should have similar. https://www.mitutoyo.com/support/repair-service/
ThreeSheds
I think I will follow Red90's advice - you must be better at this internet thing than me, the best price I could find was well over £100! Thanks for the link Oh and wrt digital... It's not that I hate them, I just don't want one... You see since I got my old dial one forty years ago, I have had (and subsequently discarded) two digital ones (one was free and one was cheap, so not worth crying over)..., The problem I find with digital ones is that when I need them, it always seems that the battery is flat and I end up digging out my old dial caliper again.
