SuperSwamper
Hi guys, I'm new to the form and need some help. Timing belt shreaded and 6 push rods bent. While the belt was off I turned the cam pulley to line up the marks, now when the belt is on it will only do a quarter turn. Has anyone any suggestions apart from take the head off. Help would be appreciated.
BogMonster
Not just fighting the compression? 300Tdi belt breakages usually only bend pushrods (always), break rotator caps (frequently) and break the actual rocker itself (occasionally). Not sure I have ever seen one with more than that so if it is locking solid due to some mechanical issue then something odd is going on. I guess you may have to take the head off to make sure there isn't a bit of valve that has come off or something.

steve b
Did you align the crank too ? It sounds like you have valves touching pistons . Welcome to LR4x4 btw. cheers Steve b
Ex Member
How are you aligning the crankshaft? Do you have a workshop manual? Are the valve clearances set correctly? Have you tried turning it with the rocker shaft off?
