D2 Steering knuckle workshop time

Hi guys,

does anyone have access to the official labour time rate for replacing the top & bottom steering knuckle on one side or both sides. I need to replace them on my disco and am trying to figure out the best way forward. I have a complete set of new ball joints I purchased some time ago knowing that I would have to replace them at some stage and am trying to decide whether to either make/purchase some extra tools to do the job or just get the dealership  to install them for me. The dealership seems to be taking a long time figuring out how much to charge me, maybe they don't really want to do it??

Thanks for any help on this. Cheers, James

I dont have for discovery but you can make a general ideea comparing with Defender cos it can't be too big difference

Defender Labor Operation Times.pdf

on a discovery 2 its completely different to a defender as the balljoints are pressed into the axle casing,

@James NZthe tools aren't mega expensive off ebay if you fancy having a go yourself, they however can be really tight

I meant "too big difference" in labour time what they charge not in the physical setup ;) ... unfortunately i couldn't find such document for Discovery 2

you cant really use the defender as a guide it it bolts together & can be changed relatively quickly, in reality the discovery ball joints could take 3-4 hours to all day depending how tight they are

I usually take a couple of hours per side if its not all rusted up. But I often have to stop to answer the phone or be ordering parts etc. I have the correct hydraulic puller kit to do the job,it helps a great deal rather than having a generic type puller.
