Hi all , think this might be a bit of a daft question but here goes . Are the front and rear diffs on a defender 90 300tdi the same ? Rover axles .I forgot to mark them when I stripped the project as it never crossed my mind , as when I did the 200tdi 110 it has a Salisbury rear , they look identical but thought I’d check before I explode everything.

cheers Ian

Yes however some say they wear differently but I've never had any problems swapping front to rear.

As above, they're the same unit. They can whine a bit if they're put back in a different end though.

Cheers both , thought  they looked identical but needed to check for my own piece of mind  . I’ll have to take a chance on the whining as I haven’t got a bloody clue which one went were , if they do will be like having the missus driving round with me. :hysterical: .

If you've got a photo of the wear pattern on each one, someone should be able to identify which is which as they'll be worn on different sides of the teeth on the crownwheel.
