Gazzar
I'm about to start painting my galvanized chassis. I had it dipped about 3 months ago, so the first product to apply will be the T wash. I was hoping to go with 2k epoxy zinc rich primer on top on that, but do I need to put an etch primer on first? I thought the t wash was etch, but I used the internet and am now totally confused. Is Jotun a good brand for 2k zinc primer?
Peaklander
I’m pretty sure that the Mordant T is the etch. It certainly seems to prep the surface. I then used Buzzweld Chassis In One strainght on in two coats. I don’t think you need another etch.
Gazzar
I think you are right. I'll have another look at the buzz weld stuff.

western
I used Mordant T, a coach paint primer then vehicle chassis black gloss, its staying on well, five years on now.
Gazzar
epoxy appears to be the way to go as a primer, sticks like glue, or so I hear. I don't know, it's very confusing. G.
Gazzar
Sod it, I think I'll go for a half dozen aerosol cans of buzz weld galv in one chassis paint. It mightn't be the best, but it's cheap, done, and has no set up costs. I'll see what it looks like done. If I'm not happy I'll cover with their version of waxoil. Done.
