Cynic-al
A friend has a big single phase compressor which has 2 pumps mounted to 1 receiver. There is a timer so it starts one pump after the other to reduce the startup load. I thought that was pretty neat and thought about replicating it with 2 small compressors instead of buying one big one but never got around to it. lo-fi
I've often thought that would be a good way myself, it's only really the starting current that causes a single phase supply problems. I changed over to multi grade oil in my large compressor and the stalling problem when cold went away though, so never pursued it either.
