Daan
A lot has been said that is true, I found that a good supplier supplies parts good enough to give a warranty on. I buy Genuine or Bearmach, and have very few complains about either. Daan

A lot of the genuine parts are carp not made to the original spec. I doubt anyone working at Land Rover know or could even locate the original spec for things made 20 or 30 years ago. dailysleaze
I think the upshot is, as a lot of comments are suggesting, that the weight put on "OEM" varies depending on the part. If anyone has a particular insight for a part they've bought then go and add a review at LR Workshop, and we may to be able to make sense of the confusion. Here's one I added for an alternator. Just registered - nice little site, hopefully help some other numpty avoid buying the carp that I've unfortunately experienced.

They have failed to cover the Disco's, Freelanders, and Range Rovers disappointing. Maybe something to keep an eye on for the future. A little harsh, I think its a hobby type site put up by a chap who happens to own a couple of Defenders thats all.

Not meant to be harsh so sorry. But it is an excellent idea and a real shame it doesn't cover all the Land Rover vehicles

Land Rover don't make tyres so agail where do the Genuine ones come from The injection pump for the 300 was made by Bosch. When my local dealer informed me that mine had a serious diesel leak from the cold start system that was where the problems started. Land Rover didn't have an exchange unit anywhere on earth. The only new one they had in their entire network was in Turkey and I could pretty much have bought another Defender for the price they quoted. In the end they removed the pump and let me take it to a not so local Bosch specialist for an overhaul. Even that came in at a fag paper short of a grand but the pump looked like New when it came back.
roamingyak
Worth watching these.... I always buy genuine unless I have a strong recommendation from a trusted mechanic about the quality of individual parts etc (Just bought a stop solenoid from Britpart branded by Bosch - came in a Bosch bag etc) so its very part specific etc Edited December 24, 2018 by roamingyak
