Smego
Anyone know if it is possible to fit one if these cheap 2kw chinese heaters in the empty space under the drivers seat in a 110?
Ex Member
Sure. Get a 5 kW though.
miketomcat
Yes I had an eberspacher d1lc under there piped into the rear foot well on my black 110. Would love to do the same on the green 110 but it has twin tanks so need to find a different home for one. Mike
Smego
Why would I want a 5kw, it will soot up being run on low all the time.
Tim2809
mud do a bracket/housing to sit it under the cubby box. they will fit under drivers seat in the tool box or ive fitted mine under rear seats. 2kw will get my 110 from 3 degrees to 30 degrees in under 10 mins. 5kw will just soot up as wont run long enough on high

Because 2 kW is not enough and they cost very little. They are fine running at any setting and won't soot up

monkie
Have you got a link to what you are considering? This sounds interesting but I can't help thinking the words "Cheap, Chinese, Diesel, Heater, Under and Seat" sound dangerous in that combination!😬
Anderzander
I think there is a Facebook group for people lamenting their failure ??
Smego
Everything I have read says 5kw will soot up amd 2kw is the way to go, it is more about where to fit as I have a van back type.

I have heard some sellers say that it’s better to have a smaller one running near to capacity than a bigger one that never gets near it though 🤷🏻♂️

I particularly like the term they use on this diagram top right.....

Everyone has one where I live. it was sent to the eberspacher dealer for service and checked over as it kept smoking and cutting out, they said it was because its too big for the landrover. so i sold it and got a 2kw and no issues since and it still cuts down to tick over as heat is still in ample supply

monkie
If you occassionally ran a 5KW heater at full setting for a while, would it clear the soot out?

miketomcat
They do seem to run better drawing fresh air rather than recirculation. Mike
paime
Forgive my ignorance but i'm new to diesel heaters....does it take a spur from the main fuel line or do you have to have a mini fuel tank onboard somewhere?
Lightning
From the diagram above it looks like they come with a fuel tank.
Maverik
You can take "T" off the main fuel line with no problems I've had a Thermotop plumed in like this for years now with no problems. If you can take an individual pick up off the tank though thats a much tidier way to do it.
FridgeFreezer
Interested to see how a Chinese copy of "small fire in a box" comes out. I'd be tempted as a quick-defrost / use-when-driving solution as you can always reach for the fire extinguisher, but I think for the "leave it running while you sleep" version in a camper I'd take a 2nd hand Eberspacher or Webasto over a Chinese knock-off. 1
Gazzar
Can one obtain some form of remote control for one of these? So, for example, to switch on via text? It'd be handy to have a warm cab in the evening on the way home.
