Chubby M
Good afternoon and happy New Year all from a forum newbie.... Question (risking it being a silly one). My 1985 110 front axle is truly shot - corroded beyond repair and I'm unable to break it down for refurb. Simple (?) - replace with a salvaged 110 front axle. Id like to replace with as new a unit as possible (2011 PUMA on auction site for example) to ensure swivels / calipers etc. are in decent order - but, these "newer" axles often have ABS. The question: Can I swap out the 1985 for a newer ABS carrying unit and somehow "disable" or bypass the ABS - as there will be no wiring / sensor feeds etc. for it??? Huge thanks in anticipation, Chubby M
western
Yes, just remove the abs sensors from the swivels on the new axle
neil110
Another thing to bear in mind is that the Bush sizes are bigger on later axles, from memory the change occurred with the introduction of the 300
Ex Member
What neil means is you need the radius arms and panhard rod as well with the axle.
Retroanaconda
If you get an axle from 1994 to 2002 you’ll just need the matching radius arms. If you get an axle from 2002 onwards then you’ll need the above plus a panhard rod and also the bracket that attaches the panhard rod to the chsssis. Plus bolts and replacement bushes as required.
