Tim2809
My bosses 2011 rrs tdv6 seems to be very bouncy on front end. Is there any self calibration that can be done or are the air bag/shock combos a common failure at £600 each. Any help appreciated
Ally V8
Are you able to cycle it through all the ride heights ? If its sitting on its bumpstops it will be bouncy. The airsring/damper units are generally reliable. If it sits level all around has anyone done a diagnostic check on it ?
Tim2809
It's able to go through full range of height settings. The back is smooth to ride in but the front feels like if it was old school the shocks are not working. No diagnostics yet as garage can't touch it for 2 weeks
garrycol
Maybe it just needs new shock absorbers (dampers).
=jon=
Does it have the adaptive dampers? If it's a similar setup to the full fat RR, there's an adaptive damping recallibration that you can do with an IID Tool (may need the beta firmware on it).. Tim2809
Further checks it appears front shocks are not working, air compressor is over heating if lowered and then put in high and now won't go down on the front says extended suspension move from obsticle and retry. garrycol
Just remember the L320 has conventional shock aborbers (dampers) and unconventional springs (air) (they are separate components in the combined suspension strut) - you describe a problem with the Electronic Air Suspension (EAS). In view of the air compressor issue you will need to get it checked out as well as the front and central air blocks - also check the front airbags and air pipe connectors for leaks - these may be causing the air compressor to be over working. Garry Cheers garry for advice, suspension will stay up for weeks if left stood so don't think there's any leaks. It's booked in with local specialist so their headache now. MartinM
I have a 2010 RRS (L322) TDV8 - I think it’s had the air suspension compressor replaced twice from new - usually you get odd messages like forward alert not available (which also means cruise control won’t work). Other issues can arise with stability system (message then is stop vehicle) that can be a low fluid level in the stability system. Not necessarily either of this is the case here if you’re not getting error messages so maybe there’s other resistance in the set up (shock absorbers possibly) Sorry not a definitive answer but may help eliminate or de-prioritise certain options. Tim2809
Just an update for those who offered help, compressor was on its last legs so replaced and both front arm bushes were changed as we're so worn it had bent both front shock shafts which is why it would not alter its height.
