Refillable spray bottles

Recommended Posts

I've bought a 5 litre bottle of wd40, and it came with a spray bottle.

Which leaks when I use it, the liquid ends up on my hands, as well as where I want it to be.

Is there a decent version of these spray bottles about? Or a repair that works for this one?

G.

Really need something with Viton Seals for chemical resistance and they are not cheap.

I use one of these:

https://www.screwfix.com/p/sx-cs5-white-black-pressure-sprayer-5ltr/7490x

which is fine for spraying WD40 and also my old-engine-oil-thinned-50:50-with-heating-kerosene spray-it-on-all-over chassis-rustproofing mix. Waxoyl's a bit too thick for it though, even when thinned and warmed in a bucket of boiling water.

All great suggestions and useful for larger situations, all I'm looking for is something small, 500ml to a litre, for squirting on bolts, finger trigger. Like a slightly less wasteful can of wd40.

There is a little wurth spray bottle that I might try.

The best hack I've done a sprayer like that is plumb in a PCL air socket like https://www.screwfix.com/p/pcl-ac21cm-airflow-male-coupling-socket-bsp-taper-male-thread/

Then just turn the air reg down to below max pressure of container and connect up to my compressor and then spray the fence with it 🙂
No hand pumping, bad spray patterns, just constant air at a good pressure

These https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wurth-Pump-Bottle-Brake-Cleaner-Dispenser-1ltr-/191108236580 seem to have come down in price a fair bit.

I bought mine years ago. They are prone to falling over too easily through. The one Ross linked to looks a bit more stable.

I have the same - they do fall over, yes, but another problem I have is inapropriate spraying when I pick it up and catch the trigger....

Only thing I've found that will live with brake cleaner long-term is the Wurth pressure sprayers with the extra swanky seals, there was one guy selling them on eBay but he was dodgy as hell, every order would be "lost or damaged" and then take twice as long to arrive - suspect he was nicking them from his works to order or something!

For WD40 I'd hope almost any of the industrial ones would be up to it. The Wurth ones are the most robust I've yet found though.

That's the exact one but larger size than the one I have for brake cleaner, still going strong after 6 years

Interesting feedback on ebay about that one!

(Frost selling on Ebay).

There's a new version of it, which appears to only have 3 'feet', which I can only imagine will mean it is more likely to tip over, yet again:

I've ordered a Wurth one for brake cleaner, I'll see how I get on.
