lo-fi Posted April 28, 2019 Share Posted April 28, 2019 Ali is nice and easy to turn and way softer than the bearings so much less chance of scratching bearings if something doesn't go quite right. landroversforever Posted April 29, 2019 Share Posted April 29, 2019 Have a look in the workshop manual, somewhere (I can't remember where now) but there are drawings for the LR special tools. landroversforever Posted April 30, 2019 Share Posted April 30, 2019 Depends on the tooling, I always found the Delrin/Acetal/Peek liked Aluminium type tips, the ones with a really sharp edge. vulcan bomber Posted April 30, 2019 Share Posted April 30, 2019 Delrin/acetal is certainly one of the nicer plastics out there to machine. Plastic as a general will machine with carbide inserts as long as your not trying to do something thin where it will just deflect out of shape. You will do much better with positive rake inserts however. If your machining plastic in the future avoid the glass filled stuff at all cost.
