neilc
I have just replaced the whole of my exhaust system , apart from the downpipe its been a breeze , however the downpipe seems to be smoking on first startup , its smells more like burning than exhaust fumes , there is nothing trapped in the joint , should I just loosen the 3 bolts and re-position and try to get a better seal or is there something im missing?. landroversforever
Have you done many miles since swapping it? Its not just the coatings on the new bits burning?
neilc
I haven't even moved it , I did wonder as there is no blow around the joint and I recall getting exhausts installed and garages and there being a small of burning initially , ill probably run it for a while and see if it burns off , as I say seems more like smoke than fumes. landroversforever
Yeah I’d say it’s the coatings burning then. After I helped a mate with his kitcar exhaust wrap, that smoked like a steam engine for the first short drive
jordan_meakin
I recently fitted a new one and experienced the same - give it a good run and check again.
FridgeFreezer
Just oily handprints on the pipe are enough to smell bad for a while.
