Soren Frimodt
Bought a ~250hp 4,6 yesterday from a mate who's going LS. Now what do I put it in? 🤔
Bowie69
Clearly a series.
Gazzar
What else will last?
Soren Frimodt
Question is, will anything else down the driveline last on a Series? The torque in this thing is amazing and I'm not sure a Series box and diffs will be best pleased.. Would be cool to put in to the Rolling parts bin 80" though 😁
Bowie69
The second 80" was my first though, but you are right, needs an LT77/R380 or even an auto.... The series box would live for a while, but it would be optimistic to think it would be a reliable setup. Of course you can swap some better diffs in easily, the gearbox is the main issue IMHO. Cynic-al
Has to be a Range Rover, Defenders just don't sound right with a V8, not rattly enough.

Yeah thats my fear as well, and always having to be gentle on the throttle makes this engine kinda pointless.. 8 minutes ago, Cynic-al said: Has to be a Range Rover, Defenders just don't sound right with a V8, not rattly enough. Did think of slapping it into and old RRC and strip it out to make it lighter and surprise some kids at the stoplights. Or even cooler would be and old SD1 but both are rare these days and go for silly money sadly 😟
Ed Poore
@Soren Frimodt - I'm breaking up a 4.6 P38 - engine's going but autobox (might need a new flex plate) and driveline are available / open to offers...
Soren Frimodt
Thanks for the offer Ed, but I doubt I'll be going auto as the cam is specced for manual so I would have to mess with either that or converter/ shift points in the auto

Soren Frimodt
While I wait to get a solution to my, very first world problem of not knowing what to use it for, I thought I might as well make a cart for it. Eventually I will add to it so I can run the engine on there, but for now it'll allow me wheel it around

landroversforever
Pop it in the buggy? JFH was it? If not, in a relatively stock 88 or 109. With some decent updated brakes. Some kind of decent sleeper

Bowie69
Ummm.... Sorry, but they are just about the worst car BL ever made, and that is saying something for them. Please don't do it

Soren Frimodt
Oh I'm doing it! Just have to decide where I'll go with it, a low buck track Day car or a cruiser for the Street that can lay down rubber 🤔😁😎

landroversforever
I think a bit of a sleeper that’s capable of both!
Ed Poore
Shove some 35" tyres under there and take it off-road

Soren Frimodt
Yeah would be cool with a LR chassis thrown under it for sure, but tbh I've got plenty of 4x4s so thought it was time to try something more asphalt oriented 😁
