mickeyw
Any car, however uncool, does redeem itself a fair bit if it was built with a V8 engine. SD1s were a classic example of the styling of their time, rusted like nobody's business, had a pretty shocking choice of paint colours, yet had this awesome sounding engine. I've never driven one, but when we were young my mate's grandparents had a V8 Vanden Plas model, and I always looked forward to the rare occasions I got to ride in it
Bowie69
Don't forget, most of them came with the turd-like 2300 or 2600 engine which needed a head gasket everytime you filled up with fuel.
FridgeFreezer
Ooooh SD1, I really want one and yet I really don't want to have to weld it up Can't see an SD1 without seeing this episode;

The good old head gasket issue 🙄 Still dogging Rover all the way into the Freelander era.

Mo Murphy
I'm surprised that there's any Rovers of that period left let alone SD1s! They rusted faster than unpainted steel. Mo

Soren Frimodt
Finally was able to collect it yesterday, a 240km drive each way in very stormy and wet weather 😁 got it pushed indoors and left as is. So after work today I'll try and get it running. Then, when I have life I'll go through it and ser just how bad the rust is 🙈

lo-fi
Que some kind of rotary jig build to turn it upside down for welding.... Much box section. What's the plan? Cage, portals and viking winch? hehe Always liked the SD1. My tech teacher at school had one, I thought it looked great with its sleek wedge shape.
