Sankey trailer on 7 pin electrics 110 on 12 pin NATO Adapter?

Hi guys, so I’ve went and bought a Sankey and very nice it is too! Then discovered it’s a 7 pin socket that on it and my 110 has the 12 pin NATO socket. I thought I’d cracked it as I have an adapter up the loft but the 13 pin is too bulky for the 110 and won’t slide on.

Does anyone know of an adapter that works? I don’t really want to mess about ret-wiring.

The circumference of the adapter won’t go into the NATO plug. I’ve had a good search but all I can see is the same adapters. Unless I see a 7 pin (from trailer) and a male 13 pin (to landy)

I had the same problem (even worse in New Zealand where it's hard to get anything off-beat).  The adaptors I found on the internet were even more expensive than that too.  In the end, I just wired in a second plug.  It took less time and a lot less money than finding an adaptor!

Can't remember how to do a link but designdevelopmenteng.co.uk do a 7pin to 12 pin nato adapter but it's around £70 regards Stephen

Yes seen that one but no guarantee it’ll fit into the NATO socket so it’s too big a gamble.

I don’t want to re wire unless it’s a plug and play option. 👍

I think you can disconnect the towing socket wiring at the bullet connectors by the rear lights.

You could make up your own loom.

Otherwise I am certain the 12 pin converter would fit.

£84 for an adapter..... I know I’m scottish but even that’s a bit steep.

I’ll need to look into a 7 pin socket onto the landy..... I’m guessing a specialist might even do it for less than the cost of the adapter.

Just discovered the NATO socket has 12 pins.

No compatability, you will have to do one of 2 things

Convert 110 to civvy socket which would be the easiest

Find a NATO plug for the trailer, these are not easy to find.

remove the cover panel inside right rear corner of the load bay, all the wiring is there, should all be bullet connections.

I’ll have a swatch as soon as I’m free, can’t actually remember a cover etc inside the cab

Just to be clear - you don't have to choose one or another.  By tapping into the wires in the location mentioned above, you can have two types of trailer plug fitted at the same time, as I do.  Any half decent sparkie could do the job in half an hour.  Bound to be cheaper than those expensive adaptors and easier to use too.

I like the sound of that Deep. Does anyone have a diagram or list of what wire goes where into the 7 pin socket from the NATO wiring?

Where did you mount your secondary socket?
