Granny
Looking to buy my first Land Rover Defender with a small budget of around £6,000.00 as wife won't let me spend any more!! Have been trawling the net but don't have a clue what I'm looking at. Sound advice required please.
FridgeFreezer
Welcome! There's a lot of ropey and over-priced Defenders out there these days, and there's a hell of a lot of things that can go wrong / need fixing... the upside is parts are very available and most jobs are DIYable, but I'd want to keep back maybe £1000 of the budget for some tools and parts - or maybe just buy a very cheap one and spend the money making it how you want it, often a better option if you're willing to do the work. What sort of thing are you after and what are you doing with it? If you're near one, dropping in on a local Land Rover club and asking around is a good way to gain some advice - Shire LRC's social is this Thursday but it's a fair old drive from you. You'd be very welcome though.

FridgeFreezer
Well, are you intending to cross the sahara, or go mud-plugging... are you daily-driving it or is it just a toy... do you have wife & kids & dog to fit in it... do you care about MPG or just fun... do you want to restore/repair/modify it or buy something and not have to do too much work... are you willing to DIY some stuff or are you paying a garage to fix everything... etc. etc.
