Series 111 lightweight difficult starting.

Hi everyone, my 1984 , 2 1/4 petrol , Weber carbed, lightweight can take ages to start. It needs no choke , otherwise floods straight away and just the smallest amount of throttle.I have cleaned the carb, blown air through all the ports, cleaned the points and plugs and have a good spark. It's a 24v so turns the engine over at speed , the petrol is 95 and new with a new fuel tank. I'm at a loss, any ideas?

Sounds like the carb wants a rebuild. I'd expect some kind of gasket or diaphragm failure, or could be as simple as the float isn't floating as well as it used to and the level is too high in the float chamber. Grab a rebuild kit, strip it down and freshen it up. Should get you going again.

As above, suspect the carb.
