markster58 0
hello all need some advice on best road to go down with a 4.6 with distributor { 3.9 serpentine front cover } injection / ecu and best camshaft etc is it recommended to fit 4.0 pistons to raise the compression ? thanks mark
Bowie69 1,448
What are you trying to do with it?
geoffbeaumont 242
Has the engine already been converted to a distributor? If not, are you sure you want to go down that road? The distributor was always the biggest weak point. Even if you're putting it in something that doesn't have an ECU, it's worth considering EDIS controlled by MegaJolt (you don't need to go full MegaSquirt with fuelling control as well) or similar. Much more reliable, especially if it's going to get wet.
garrycol 82
4.0 pistons will raise the compression ratio depending on what you are starting off with - you need to change out the 4.0 gudgeon pins for the 4.6 gudgeon pins as the 4.6 pins have thicker walls.
neil110 96
In terms of Camshaft, I used a Kent cam from Turner engineering and it has transformed my 4.2 It produces so much more torque at usable rev/min that it has almost made the gearbox redundant and this is in a 110 CSW Might be worth your while looking at these. http://www.landroverresource.com/40_46_V8_overhaul.pdf http://www.super7thheaven.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/Rover-V8-3528cc-3946cc-4275cc-Overhaul-Manual.pdf Edited March 27, 2020 by neil110
