David Sparkes
Currently, LR Techical Support (Service, Bulletins, etc) is supplied via the Topix system. Although biased towards Dealerships and Independant Traders, it is possible to Register even though you do not own a business, although it may be necessary to Identify yourself as 'Independant' when conversing with the 'India based' telephone helpdesk that supports the Topix system. I first registered (for free) when the support was provided under the GTR (Global Technical Resource) system, and this registration was carried forward to the Topix system. I have just accessed the Topix system, enough to see that Defender 2020 is a recognised model under the system. At this point it is essential to know that the Defender 2020 is called 'Defender / L663' on Topix. To create a paid for subscription you have to make further selections. For the purpose of this exercise, based mainly on accessing everything at the lowest cost, I made the following selections: Category = All, (so both Bulletins & Service). Selecting only Bulletins, or only Service, will result in lower subscription cost. Subscription Type = Single Model and Model Year, Brand = Land Rover (Topix also covers Jaguar), Models = Defender / L663, Model Year = 2020, Period = (options are 1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month, 1 Year) 1 Hour = £19.20. 1 Day = £31.20 1 Week = £62.40 1 Month = £111.60 1 Year = £452.40. All prices include VAT. I have paused there, as I need to go out. It is my assumption that once 'in', data can be downloaded, and while I'm sure it won't be as easy as just selecting 'everything', an intensive hour or so might enable a meaningful quantity of data to be collected. Stating the obvious, the terms of Registering for Topix means that you cannot just subsequently Copy and Paste, but 'informed comment' should be possible without jeapordising individuals (as subscribers) or the Forum (as the hosting platform). B reg 90
I down loaded the manual for my Disco 3 from topics. I took the week long subscription. I needed it - the manuals are down loadable in small sections, say 3 or 5 pages. I opted too print it as I only had access to a work PC at the time and the IT policy made saving files from the PC to a memory stick impossible. The massive office printer took hours to print it all out. The stack of double sided paper was 3 foot tall at the end and this did nto include the wiring diagrams. However it was worth it as the info is invaluable. If I bought a new defender I'd be straight back on downloading the manual.
Snagger
Would downloaded files not have a built in time expiry, to prevent exactly this practice?
Ed Poore
I may have created a little Python based Web scraper than downloaded everything related to the L322. Wonder if those files still exist. Wonder if the hard drive still exists... It was certainly very comprehensive

Print to PDF is a good shortcut for that sort of thing.
Retroanaconda
Useful post, I’ll be needing to go in to get the proper service information if the dealer won’t give it to me, so I can get the local garage to do the work rather than pay LR the obscene amount they seem to want to charge. Owners manual is useless. Other than the engine oil spec it is entirely silent on servicing other than basically ‘take it to the dealer when it tells you’.
