Have you thought of hydro forming it using a grease gun my man ?

Have been doing a bit of research on this it appears to have limitations on thickness certainly for a home garage project, anything sub 2mm forms nicely, however again there is some limitations on achieving a sharp enough radius for my corners, I do think it is worth exploring for making lightweight bottom hinge panels so might have a go at that at some point in the future who knows regards Stephen

Apologies for some of the photos .So had another shot with vent recesses this time mock up of full panel length with 1.6 mm mild steel plate .First two photos just showing scabby then cleaned up plate marked out

So placed in press not easy on your own I might add

20201004_190356.thumb.jpg.7c1c24adee56101024cc7b611208f640.jpg

Both sides done no splitting of material so that's good but!!

20201004_193456.thumb.jpg.8b2252775e1c14a068deef72c327204f.jpg

Sheet now has a curve in it and some rippling at ends and in between flap recesses

20201004_193511.thumb.jpg.406da298f586d5b352ddba03c4d24f88.jpg

Also got misaligned along the way

So after some persuasive hammering things are looking better although still misaligned

I'm generally quite happy with that so far more test pieces to do and alignment to sort out may have just slipped out of place as everything coated in oil also press needs to be dug out so I have access to both sides any thoughts appreciated regards Stephen

Did a bit more on folder tonight first I extended the blade so total folding length is 1.74m or 68.5" in old money

20201005_164952.thumb.jpg.8a96cc705de21e7757f6b6ff5fa453ac.jpg

Then a couple of pieces of 80x25 flat bar welded on to attach to sliders

Now with springs uncompressed the blade sits around 25mm / 1" high enough to slide stuff in and out

No handle on yet but gave it a trial fold with some 2mm aluminium 1m wide and used a 15" shifter as the handle that at least told me that I'm going to need a bit more leverage

So not too bad a couple of adjustments to be made and bend will be slightly tighter but that's for another day regards Stephen

Folded long sides which was more difficult than I imagined due to flex in 5"channel
