david allberry
The mudflap is fitted to a steel angle which is then bolted to the rear cross member with three bolts or rivets. How is this done? Any advice gratefully received.
western
3 rivnuts in rear crossmember lower face, Video here on how to replace without special tools
david allberry
Thank you very much. Good video for rivnut without special tool. It looks like the mudflap mount was fitted to the rear cross member with fat pop rivets. The holes in the cross member are 5mm; the holes in the mud flap mount are 7mm. So pop rivet would work with small bore washer.
western
I would go with the rivnuts, M6 or M8 would be fine for mudflaps lots of antisieze grease on the bolt threads, but suitable rivets would work.
